Neighborhood Overview

Located less than an hour west of Las Américas International Airport, the villa sits in a mostly quiet San Cristóbal neighborhood where neighbors often share traditional and modern Latino music. You’ll find a mix of moderate and upscale homes, with small corner stores nearby; for full grocery shopping, visit La Sirena or Saomi markets in the town center.

Local Tips & Safety

The community is generally tranquil, but as in any region, exercise caution. Be alert for petty crime such as purse-snatching, especially after dark. Follow local practice: stay on the property or in public, well-lit areas at night and remain aware of your surroundings.

About Us

Rex and Mairelis Anderson, Metamora, Michigan, United States

We have been AIRBNB Super Hosts/Premium VRBO Hosts since 2016. We strive to make your experience of staying in our home a carefree and relaxing adventure.

I’m a consumer lawyer from Michigan who loves to travel, ski, snowboard, surf, and explore new places. During my travels, I met my beautiful wife from the Dominican Republic and have been happily married ever since. We both have experience in the hospitality industry, which is one of the reasons we decided to become hosts. We love traveling and meeting new and interesting people. We enjoy cooking and entertaining our friends in our home. We are lovers of life.

Energy Use

The Dominican Republic is a developing country, and it has its challenges with regard to cost-effective electricity and distribution. Therefore, we encourage renters to save electricity during their stay, as electricity costs are costly in the Dominican Republic. To fulfill the lack of electricity (blackouts) that may happen at certain times during each day, we have a backup generator that will be turned on whenever there is a blackout; the generator is available 24/7.

Rooftop Terrace

This is our favorite place to hang out, especially at night—gentle wind and hilltop air are always breezing. We have a 360 view that is incredible, day and night. The view overlooking the neighborhood is fascinating. And, of course, we’re surrounded by mountains and coconut trees, which makes it very special. We enjoy many evening meals, after-dinner drinks, and chill-out times here.

We have a kitchen sink and cupboard full of plates, glasses, and other goodies to facilitate. We also enjoy practicing on our rooftop, putting green with golf balls and putters.

Neighborhood Overview

Our home is in San Cristobal province, less than an hour's drive west of Las Americas International Airport. The neighborhood/barrio is quiet for the most part. The neighbors politely take turns playing their favorite music for the rest of the neighbors’ enjoyment. You can hear a great mixture of traditional and modern Latino music. From our vantage point, you can see a mix of moderate and more expensive-beautiful homes. There are not many corner grocery stores, so it’s best to shop at La Sirena/ Saomi Grocery stores in the center.

It’s a tranquil community. Nevertheless, I would not be out meandering around at night. Stick to public places.

Kitchen

Our main-level open-floor gourmet kitchen has all the accessories, new appliances, and brand-new custom cabinetry. The indoor dining area is directly adjacent to the kitchen on one side and steps away from the pool patio, with an outdoor gazebo eating area on the opposite side.

Second Floor Balcony

Our second-floor balcony has incredible views of mountains, coconut, palm trees, and our neighborhood. It’s a great place to hang out and play cards, kick back in our bamboo rocking chairs, and watch the magnificent sunsets and the town lights turn on at night.

Swimming Pool & Backyard Patio

Our saltwater pool and tiki bar with plenty of deck furniture is excellent for congregating with family and friends. Kick back and enjoy lush herbaceous vegetation, bananas, plantains, avocados, limes, and flowers. It’s enjoyable to lounge around the pool and tiki bar and soak up the sunshine. It’s conveniently located just outside the kitchen, so it’s ideal for lunch and dinner. And also, to play cornhole tournaments.

Our grounds are entirely enclosed with masonry walls for security and privacy.

Living Room

We have many spaces that you could call living rooms. We have a first-floor balcony/porch area at the front entrance of our home. There is a second indoor living area as you enter our home. Our second level has a living room with comfortable sofas, chairs, and a 50-inch smart Samsung flat-screen for watching local cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple +, PBS, YouTube, and more. There is more described below. Our total indoor area size is approximately 4700 square feet.

Interaction with Guests

Mairelis and I typically interact with our guests only when they initiate it. However, we are always available by phone or text to answer questions. Our co-hosts, who reside in a separate apartment, are available if you have questions or need assistance.

Bathrooms

Four bathrooms with showers. Two on the main level and two on the upper level. One-half bathroom on the main level.

Work Out Bonus Room

We have a bonus room area on second floor with a bench press, a weight set, and an area to stretch out on yoga mats.

Business Travel

This home has all the essential business travel amenities, including high-speed Internet. Office supply stores with complete printing services and UPS are just a minute’s drive away.

Day Rentals

We also offer our property for day rentals and get-togethers with family and friends. See Pricing below.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire house.

Bedrooms

Our home includes two large master bedrooms (lower and upper level), king-size beds, and ensuite bathrooms. The lower MB also has a single bed. Both master bedrooms have 50-inch flatscreen smart televisions. Two guest bedrooms on the second floor share a large bathroom. All bedrooms have air conditioning, premium organic foam mattresses, fans, and closet space. There is also a small bedroom on the main level with a queen bed, a TV, and an ensuite bathroom on the first floor.

We also have two very comfortable full-size 6-inch Tri-fold Milliard Memory foam mattresses that readily fit on both master bedroom floors for a total sleeping capacity (albeit tight) of 15 persons, all with air conditioning.

There is much other space to put air mattresses under ceiling fans in rooms without AC. See additional pricing below for each guest staying over our 14-person limit.
